I fell in love with color and texture in bead-work and have loved collecting stones since I was very small child. Than I found the properties of wire and what hammering did to metals. I had to do the hair of five younger sisters and now five daughters, so it followed to make hair ornaments, and I have loved stories of King Arthur and the Celtic and Scandinavian countries since I was tiny. I hope that the metal comes alive when I work it, into flow like the old Celtic and Norse carvings.
We made Appalachian style baskets for a living and homesteaded when I was younger, so earning my way with my handwork was natural to me and the light of the oil lamps lit my first attempts kindly as they hung over the desk where I was studying Russian and German, Latin and Homeric Greek.
Beauty can be form of communication too. Language, art,medicine, they all connect people and that is what I wish to do. I love shows, I have been known to be hoarse after a long show because I talk all the time, because meeting people is so interesting, helping them find what they want, teaching them how to twist their hair, just listening to them.
